DCR Lite - Low Cost Digital CCTV Decoding and Format Conversion
Its extensive support for current and discontinued digital video formats ensures that video files can be viewed immediately. The player and codec management engine ensures all players are fully compatible with the computers operating system, reducing the risk of system crashes and codec conflicts which are common problems when installing 3rd party video codecs and players.
Once the CCTV video file has been decoded, DCR Lite can accurately convert the original proprietary digital video to a standard format such as AVI or MPEG allowing easy storage and distribution of video evidence. When combined with Case Management and the built-in DVD burning facility, a full end-to-end digital only process is achieved.
DCR Lite features a highly accurate form of screen capture developed specifically for recording from digital CCTV sources, this records the screen area only when there is a new CCTV frame of video, individual frames of video are stored uncompressed in the system memory until it is exported. The resulting output files are as close to the original as possible but with a high level of compatibility with standard media players and can also be quickly included as part of an evidential DVD. Optional analog output and compatibility with VideoBOX allow further enhancement and advanced functions such as masking.
DCR Lite's easy to use Video Editor allows the playback speed to be instantly adjusted and video sequences to be trimmed before being exported to a Case or DVD project.
DCR Lite's in-built Case Management function allows all images and sequences from a specific case to be automatically named and stored reducing the risk of storing evidence in random locations or evidential images to be mixed up from different cases. Case management can be configured on fixed, removable or network storage drives, this allows a powerful central storage facility to be easily created.

DCR Lite supports the vast majority of current and discontinued DVR and digital video formats; at present over 1200 DVR and media formats are supported with additional players being continually added with the new ServicePack Update facility.
Codec Management
DCR Lite removes the risks that are often present when downloading and installing codecs and players from 3rd party sources, for example the risk of Trojans, spyware or adware. Once installed 3rd party players can often corrupt the systems operating system or systems codec support, the installation of a large number of DVR players should therefore be avoided.
Auto Format Detection and Load
DCR Lite automatically scans introduced media and presents all recognised file types to the user for selection to view. Files are automatically loaded into the correct replay program or the built-in DCR Lite player.

DCR Lite is designed to provide reliable access to many digital CCTV formats which allows users to immediately view and produce professional and consistent results. DCR Lite can be used as a technical or forensic tool and is also suitable for use at divisional support or within custody units.
The systems audit trail can therefore be used to provide statistics on system usage or efficiency. If audit trails are provided to Vision Base, our development and support personnel can use the audit trails to determine the commonly occurring formats that are not supported. Using this information we can prioritise the additional support for formats tailored to your system or local region.
